SPIÑA DI PALOMBA (PIGEON SPIKES)
After completing my Visual Archive and gaining more insight into my observation process, I decided to combine aspects of all the drawing assignments from the first semester. The final drawing assignment description was to include subject(s) from our visual archives, rule breaking methods of drawing, and also having social significance(greater scheme).
Pigeon Spikes were the most fascinating objects and constructions I kept coming across in the public space. It's sculptural value, being transformative according to time (decay), and also how they can merge with the buildings and objects they're attached to, becoming objects altogether, were all what I was drawn to.
After the first step I reflected on my tendencies to incorporate 3D as a method to convey the impressions of the spikes. I also made use of my interest in corners and constructions to work towards a final drawing.
